The writer of the origin of species, Charles Darwin is a dominant figure in the pantheon of contemporary science. There is no biologist who does not bow to his opus and not stating that she/he does any more that working based on and developing the theory of Evolution. However, several realms of contemporary Biology have anti-Darwinian aspects.
The aim of the present work is to support the previous claim exemplified by the recent coining and fast adoption and use of the term “ecosystem services”. Justification for the characterization as anti-Darwinian is provided and an initial explanation is attempted. The major causes identified involve the, traditionally, bad terms politics are with science as well as the denial of scientists to acknowledge the ideological load each carries, and it’s consequent impact on scientific research.
