The use of poisoned baits in Greece has cost thousands of losses in dominant, stray and wild animals over time. The creation and function of Canine Teams for the detection of poisoned baits can be proved a significant tool for the prevention and prosecution of wildlife crimes. The study presents results of the function of the Cretan Canine Team (CCT) for the period July 2016 – June 2017 and points out some of the reasons of the non-prosecution for wildlife crimes in Crete.
