Abstract: 

The lack of specific legislation on the conservation of geological heritage leads to the insufficient protection of geotopes. As a result, Greek Ombudsman notices environmental degradation or even total construction of them deriving from human activities, which, up to a degree, are been investigated via the broader legislation on the protection of natural and cultural environment.
