The Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (HSPN) invites its friends and members in the lecture by Ms. Stavroula Pouli, on the subject: "The Environmental Liability Directive and its implementation in Greece», on Monday, February 12, 2018, at 7 pm, at its offices (Niki 20, Syntagma square, Athens).
Environmental liability and the "polluter pays" principle are among the pillars of environmental legislation to prevent and / or remediate environmental damage. The LIFE Natura Themis project (LIFE14 GIE/GR/000026), which is being implemented by the University of Crete – Natural History Museum of Crete (UoC – NHMC), in cooperation with the Bar Associations of Heraklion and Chania, respectively, the HSPN and the Ministry of Environment & Energy – Coordination Office for the Implementation of Environmental Liability (YPEN – COIEL), has as its object to raise awareness of competent authorities regarding wildlife crime and the promotion of environmental liability in NATURA 2000 sites in Crete.
Mrs. Stavroula Pouli is an Environmental Scientist and works at the Ministry of Environment & Energy. Since 2011, Mrs. Pouli has been the Head of the Coordination Office for the Implementation of Environmental Liability (COIEL), which is under the Special Secretariat of Inspectors and Auditors of the Ministry of Environment & Energy, with the objective of the implementation of environmental liability in Greece.
