The coordinator of the Heraklion Bar Association Dr. George Sbokos, lawyer, introduced the work and the activities of the Environmental Law Observatory of East Crete on Monday, March 6, 2017. Addressing the prosecutors, the judicial officers, the lawyers and the public at the Heraklion Judicial Hall, he highlighted the challenges and opportunities of Environmental Law.
In a specific spot of the Heraklion Court House dedicated to this purpose, he informed the stakeholders and the public about the purposes and the results of the preparatory survey that was conducted during the first year of the project’s implementation. He also provided information regarding the operation of the two Observatories (operating since early 2017 in Heraklion and Chania) and their goals.
Judges and lawyers who worked that day at the courthouse, had the opportunity to study the posters, which schematically illustrated the environmental arbitrariness in Crete, with all the data that were collected so far by the “LIFE Natura Themis”.
Many of them expressed their particular interest to participate in the training seminar organized by the University of Crete - Natural History Museum of Crete on Saturday, March 11, 2017, entitled "Environmental Law and Environmental NGOs".
