On Friday, March 3, 2017 the first meeting of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) and the Project Committee of Experts (PCE) of the “LIFE Natura Themis” took place in Athens. The three hours meeting was held at the offices of the Coordination Office for the Implementation of Environmental Liability (COIEL) of the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The objectives of the meeting were acquaint the members of the two committees; to inform the Project Committee of Experts on the implementation progress of the project; to seek for solutions on the problems that have occurred during the first year of the implementation of specific actions; to exchange opinions and information on the implementation of the Directive on Environmental Liability in Greece and the provision by the PCE of potential consultation to improve the project.
At the meeting, besides the members of the two committees, also participated three representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights (MJTHR), who attended the debate, were informed of matters within their competence and received a memorandum compiled by the PSC in order to facilitate the project. The memorandum includes proposals for specific actions on behalf of the MJTHR in order to help the two Environmental Law Observatories of the project, already operating in Crete, to conduct their work in an easier and faster way.
