Seminar for Journalists' Students of the Private School AKMI Private School organized by the Environmental Law Observatory of Eastern Crete, on Wednesday 28 March 2018.
The seminar took place in the office of the Environmental Law Observatory of Eastern Crete and was organized by the coordinator of the project on behalf of the Heraklion Bar Association. 17 students with the responsible professor participated in this event.
The LIFE Natura Themis program and its key actions were presented during the first part of the seminar. The presentation included a description of three typical environmental degradation cases of Crete and ways of covering them from a journalistic point of view.
In the second part of the seminar the students carried out a case study. They were given a scenario based on the publication of the new law on the protection of NATURA 2000 sites. Students had to approach the data in their legal and journalistic dimension. They were asked to try to formulate the questions that should be answered for the understanding and journalistic coverage of the events.
